ASUS ROG Ally X Officially Launched for $799

ASUS has finally launched the Asus ROG Ally X, the company’s newest handheld gaming PC, which was initially revealed early last month. It’s not a successor to last year’s ROG Ally, but a more expensive variant that addresses many of the original model’s shortcomings.

Battery and Memory Upgrade

ASUS ROG Ally X battery capacity has doubled from its predecessor, from 40 wh to 80 wh. This of course will make ROG Ally X last longer. For comparison, the previous ROG Ally could last around 2 to 6.8 hours depending on the game being played. There was also an increase in RAM and storage capacity, ROG Ally Meanwhile, storage has increased from 512 GB SSD to 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD.

Cooling System Changes

The cooling system on the ROG Ally. The airflow of this cooling system is directed towards the screen so that the device will remain cool even if it is used to play games for a long time.

The location of the microSD slot has also been moved because, on the previous ROG Ally, the microSD slot was often problematic due to its location close to the hot air exhaust ventilation.

Comes in Black

If previously this console came in white, the ROG Ally X comes in black, similar to the Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion Go. The corners now have softer curves, not too sharp like the predecessor series. The positions of the analog buttons and other buttons have also been adjusted to provide a much better experience.

The fingerprint scanner sensor at the top has now been made easier to find. Then there is also a USB-C port and ROG XG Mobile Interface which have now been replaced with two USB-C ports (1x Thunderbolt 4 & 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2).

In terms of hardware, the ROG Ally For screen matters, ROG Ally. The operating system it carries is Windows 11 and the newer version of the Armory Crate SE utilities software.

The ROG Ally X is now available for pre-order. It comes only in black and In the United States market, the price of the Asus ROG Ally at $799 with a 3-month Game Pass subscription.
