HMD OffGrid adds satellite connectivity to all smartphones

One of the typical features of the latest flagship smartphones is satellite connectivity, which allows users to alert emergency services even in areas not reached by the terrestrial mobile network.

Suppose you’re not interested in upgrading to a flagship smartphone. In that case, the alternative for hikers is to purchase an accessory that supports satellite connectivity like those offered by Garmin. Still, a cheaper solution will soon be available: the one from HMD previewed at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
