Honor Magic V Flip is here With a 4-inch Cover Screen, SD 8+ Gen 1
Honor Magic V Flip has been launched in China as Honor’s first clamshell foldable smartphone. As expected, after numerous leaks and rumors, the foldable comes with a large 4-inch external display, which is almost the largest in the flip phone segment. It has a 6.8-inch display and is powered by Qualcomm’s slightly older Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The Magic V flip lens features a cutout on the left side of the main screen to accommodate the camera, and it comes with a 4,800mAh battery supporting 66W charging.
Honor Magic V Flip price
The Honor Magic V Flip is priced at CNY 4,999 (approx. $690/€640) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The 12GB + 512GB model costs CNY 5,499 (approx. $758/€709), while the 12GB + 1TB variant costs CNY 5,999 (approx. $827/€768). It is launched in Camellia White, Champagne Pink, and Iris Black shades.
Honor is selling a premium version of Magic V Flip Haute Couture Edition at CNY 6,999 (approx. $965/€902) for 16GB+1TB with customization options. All models are currently up for pre-order in China and will go on sale from June 21. The brand has yet to announce the availability of the new device outside of China.
Honor Magic V Flip specifications
The dual-SIM (Nano) Magic V Flip runs on MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14. It has a 6.8-inch primary Full-HD+ (1080×2520 pixels) LTPO OLED internal display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz. Adaptive refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness and featured in the Dolby Vision-certified display, which offers 3840Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming. The highlight of the new device is the 4-inch LTPO OLED (1,200×1,092 pixels) cover screen, which supports more than 40 applications. The camera design of the outer screen is located in the lower left corner.
The Magic V Flip is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with 16GB of RAM – the same chipset that powers Samsung’s 2022 model Galaxy Z Flip 4.
For optics, the new device has a dual rear camera unit with a 50-megapixel main camera with f/1.9 aperture and support for optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12-megapixel ultrawide with f/2.2 aperture. Angle is a macro camera. and autofocus. There is a 50-megapixel Sony selfie camera for taking selfies and video chats.
Honor has packed a 4,800mAh battery on the Magic V Flip that supports 66W fast charging. The battery can charge from zero to 100 percent in just 42 minutes. The phone measures 167.3×75.6×7.15mm unfolded and 86.5×75.6mmx14.89mm unfolded. It weighs 193 grams.
