Nothing Phone 2a Plus announced With MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro SoC, 50MP Front Camera

Nothing Phone 2a Plus launched on Wednesday 31, 2024. The latest handset from the Carl P-led UK brand comes with an upgrade over the Nothing Phone 2a. Nothing Phone 2a Plus runs on MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G SoC and has two 50-megapixel rear cameras and a 50-megapixel front camera. The new handset sports an AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and retains Nothing’s modified Glyph interface on the standard Phone 2a. It packs a 5,000mAh battery and has an IP54-rated build.

The Nothing Phone 2a Plus is priced at $399/£399 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage trim. Pre-orders start today at nothing.tech.

The Nothing store in Soho, London will offer the phone (2a) Plus from 11 am BST on 3 August. Buyers in the US can grab the device through Nothing’s US Beta Program starting August 7 at 9 a.m. ET.

The phone 2a Plus will start at INR 27,999 for the base 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage configuration. The top-end version with 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage is priced at INR 29,999. It is offered in black and gray color options and will go on sale via Flipkart from August 7.

The Nothing Phone 2a Plus, which has dual SIM (Nano) support, runs on NothingOS 2.6 based on Android 14. The company promises 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches for this new phone. It sports a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,412 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 394ppi pixel density, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The screen offers a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The phone is powered by an octa-core 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G SoC with Mali-G610 MC4 GPU and up to 12GB of RAM. For comparison, the Phone 2a is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC.

Regarding the cameras, the phone has a dual-camera setup. The primary is a 50MP Samsung GN9 1/1.57-inch sensor with f/1.88 aperture, 10x digital zoom, and optical image stabilization (OIS) with electronic image stabilization (EIS). The secondary 50MP Samsung JN1 1/2.76-inch sensor offers a 114-degree field of view. On the front, it has a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 selfie shooter. This is a notable change from the Nothing Phone 2a’s 32MP front camera.

Users get up to 256GB of built-in storage on the Phone 2a Plus. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6 Direct, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS, 360-degree antenna, and a USB Type-C port. On-board sensors include an accelerometer, electronic compass, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor and has a linear haptic motor. Additionally, the phone features high-definition microphones and dual stereo speakers.

The phone comes with an IP54-rated dust and water-resistant build. Like Nothing’s Phone 2a and Phone 1, the new device also features the Glyph interface. This array full of LEDs can light up during calls and notifications.

The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 50W fast charging support and 5W reverse wired charging support. The battery claims to provide up to 40.6 hours of music playback time on a single charge. Moreover, the fast charging feature is said to charge the battery from zero to 100 percent in 56 minutes. It measures 161.7×76.3×8.5mm and weighs 190 grams.
