Xiaomi Poco X7 series Unveiled Globally with powerful specs, unique design

Two new mid-range Android smartphones were unveiled today: Xiaomi Poco X7 series POCO X7 and POCO X7 Pro, two products that have been the protagonists of numerous previews during the past weeks (also through variants dedicated to other markets ) and have finally been officially presented. Let’s learn everything there is to know about the new devices, which aim to make a mark on value for money.

POCO X7 series is official: MediaTek hearts and generous batteries

POCO X7 series was officially presented during the Full Speed Ahead event, two new mid-range Android smartphones that share only some of the specifications and features. One of the components in common is the display, in both cases a 6.67-inch AMOLED Flow CrystalRes with 1.5K resolution and a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The panel offers a sampling rate of up to 2560 Hz, a peak brightness of 3200 nits, a PWM Dimming of 1920 Hz, and a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 or Gorilla Glass 7i protective glass.

The heart, however, changes, still signed by MediaTek: POCO X7 series: POCO X7 offers a Dimensity 7300-Ultra with octa-core CPU (up to 2.5 GHz) and Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, while POCO X7 Pro goes further and offers a Dimensity 8400-Ultra with octa-core CPU (up to 3.25 GHz) and Mali-G720 GPU. The memories alongside the latter are the same in terms of quantity, but not in quality: in both cases, we have variants with 8 or 12 GB of RAM with 256 or 512 GB of storage, but only the Pro model can count on LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 memories (LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2 on the other model).

The differences are also felt in the photographic sector, even if on paper in a different way than we would be led to imagine. The front camera is 20 MP (f / 2.5) and is common to both, but we have divergences on the back (and not only in terms of design): POCO X7 Pro offers a dual camera with a 50 MP Sony IMX882 main sensor (with OIS, f / 1.5 aperture) and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor (f / 2.2), while POCO X7 series offers a triple camera with the same 50MP main sensor and the same 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, but with the addition of a 2MP sensor for macro shots (with f / 2.4 aperture).

The differences are not over yet, because it’s time to take a look at the batteries: the Pro model pushes the accelerator more and offers a 6000 mAh unit compatible with 90W HyperCharge wired fast charging, while the POCO X7 series has to “make do” with a 5150 mAh battery with 45 W Turbo Charging wired fast charging. The 90 W charge allows you to reach 100% in just 42 minutes, and the manufacturer promises to maintain at least 90% of the capacity even after 1000 complete cycles.

For the rest, both offer IP68 certification against water and dust, complete connectivity (with 5G dual SIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, and USB Type-C port), and stereo speakers.

POCO X7 Pro Specifications:

  • 6.67-inch AMOLED CrystalRes display with 1.5K resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra SoC with Mali-G720 GPU
  • 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal memory
  • Dual rear camera with 50MP main sensor
  • 6000mAh battery with 90W HyperCharge fast charging

POCO X7 Specifications:

  • 6.67-inch AMOLED CrystalRes display with 1.5K resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra SoC with Mali-G615 MC2 GPU
  • 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal memory
  • triple rear camera with 50 MP main sensor
  • 5150mAh battery with 45W Turbo Charging fast charging

As you can see, POCO X7 series smartphones offer rather bold designs, especially in the yellow/black colors: it certainly cannot be said that they do not want to be noticed. POCO X7 Pro is very similar to REDMI Turbo 4 on a general level: it offers a rounded-shaped module that integrates two protruding circular lenses, arranged one above the other; POCO X7 changes and offers a square module (with rounded corners) of larger dimensions and with four “lenses” (one of which is the LED flash, however).

POCO X7 series arrives on the market in different versions: Xiaomi HyperOS for POCO X7 and HyperOS 2 for POCO X7 Pro: the manufacturer promises to offer at least three updates to the operating system. Among the integrated features we can mention AI Erase Pro, which allows you to eliminate unwanted objects from shots, AI Image Expansion, which extends the background to make photos more engaging, and AI Film, designed to create short cinematic-style videos. On the productivity side, we then find functions such as AI Interpreter (designed to break down language barriers during meetings and calls), AI Notes, and AI Recorder (for more “orderly” and possibly translated notes and recordings). All this without forgetting the presence of Google Gemini, an assistant powered by artificial intelligence.
