In addition to announcing Gemini for Home and presenting a new look for the Google Home app, Google recently announced three new smart home devices from the Google Nest range and the new Google Home Speaker.
These new products are all able to exploit the new potential of Gemini for Home, a platform that the Mountain View giant has extended to some partners for the creation of compatible third-party devices.
New Google devices for the smart home
As anticipated at the beginning, Google has a few hours ago announced four new smart home devices, all compatible with the new artificial intelligence-based experience, Gemini for Home, which the company recently introduced into its ecosystem.

We’re also introducing the new Google Home Speaker, the first audio device designed for Gemini, bringing our most advanced and useful voice assistant right to your home.

Nest Cam Outdoor (Wired, 2nd Generation)
The second-generation Nest Cam Outdoor (wired) improves on the previous model with support for 2K HDR video, a wider 152-degree field of view, and improved low-light performance.
Being an outdoor device, it is IP65 certified to resist dust, wind, snow, and rain. It is made from recycled materials, using a resin that offers long-term UV protection. Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, second generation) is available in Snow, Hazel, and Berry colors.
Nest Cam Indoor (Wired, 3rd Generation)
The third-generation Nest Cam Indoor (wired) camera enjoys the same improvements as the outdoor model and is available in Snow, Hazel, and Berry.
Nest Doorbell (3rd Generation)
The third-generation Nest Doorbell improves on the previous model by gaining support for 2K HDR video, a wider 166-degree field of view, a square form factor for improved visibility even from below, and better performance in low-light conditions.

Google Home Speaker
In addition to the new features in the Google Nest range, the new Google Home Speaker was presented, a smart speaker designed around Gemini for Home to provide users with Gemini’s conversational capabilities in managing smart home devices.
At the bottom is a light ring that provides visual feedback to indicate when the assistant is listening, thinking/reasoning, responding, or when we have launched Gemini Live for uninterrupted real-time conversations.
From an audio point of view, this speaker offers 360° “balanced” audio (therefore spatial sound), to make the sound uniform regardless of the position in which it is placed in the room.
Google also listened to user feedback and added a long-requested feature: you can pair two Google Home Speakers with a Google TV Streamer to turn the three devices into a full-fledged home theater with surround sound.
Going back to the design, aside from the aforementioned light ring, the new Google Home Speaker is made from recycled materials, and the device is wrapped in a new 3D-knit yarn to reduce waste. The available colors are Porcelain, Hazel, Jade, and Berry.
