iPhone 17 series leak With Specifications, Launch Timelines Tipped; iPhone 17 Slim Said to Get New Design

There is plenty of information about Apple’s iPhone 16 models today ahead of its usual September iPhone launch event. While new phones are expected to get iterative upgrades, the latest leaks still show no sign of redesigns or all-new models. However, a recent leak has revealed new information about Apple’s potential iPhone 17 series lineup, which is expected to be released in 2025. While we’ve seen a few leaks about which models are expected to launch, this new leak sheds light on the details of each model.

Tipster Ice Universe on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo has published details about all iPhone models to be launched in 2025. The iPhone 16 series is expected to launch in September this year, with the iPhone 17 models expected to launch in 2025. Allow enough time for the leak to solidify or dissolve. Therefore, we request our readers take the information below with a pinch of salt.

iPhone SE 4 Specs (Rumoured)

The tipster suggests that the much-awaited upgrade to the iPhone SE may still be called the iPhone SE 4 but will come with some major upgrades (by Apple standards). If the leak turns out to be genuine, the iPhone SE 4 could be the first iPhone SE model to feature an OLED panel. Moreover, the tipster indicates that this OLED panel will also be the largest panel installed on the iPhone SE model. Sadly, this display will still only refresh at 60Hz. Traditionally, iPhone SE models have always had smaller displays with compact dimensions. The iPhone SE 4 is said to pack the Apple A18 SoC and has 6-8GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

iPhone 17 Specs (Rumoured)

While the currently available iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models have been upgraded to OLED displays (with the Dynamic Island feature), they still have the standard 60Hz refresh rate. iPhone 17 models are said to have a higher (120Hz) variable refresh rate with LTPO technology that paves the way for Apple’s always-on display features that dim the lock screen, at least. It stays on and visible all day while using power. The iPhone 17 and 17 Plus models are said to feature 6.27-inch and 6.65-inch LTPO panels, A19 SoC packs, and 8GB of RAM.

iPhone 17 Pro Specs (Rumoured)

iPhone 17 Pro models are said to (for now) receive some iterative upgrades. While current-generation models such as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max already pack in 8GB of RAM, the iPhone 17 Pro models are said to pack 12GB of RAM. The Pro models mentioned here will also get three 48MP rear cameras. These models will be powered by the Apple A19 Pro SoC.

iPhone 17 Slim/Ultra Specs (Rumoured)

Finally, there are some minor details about the iPhone 17 Slim, which could be Apple’s Ultra model to take on similar ‘Ultra’ branded models from Samsung and other Chinese brands. While an earlier report highlighted how Apple is planning to make the phone even thinner, a recent report claims that Apple has not yet stopped using RCC parts. The new material will replace the current copper-clad laminate (CCL) motherboards that are used in current-generation devices. RCC components will reduce the thickness of these internal components, allowing Apple to make its new iPhone models much thinner.

However, the latest report only talks specifically about halting the development of iPhone 17 models (which would ideally not include the new iPhone 17 Slim or Pro models). The latest leak from Ice Universe now indicates that Apple will launch the iPhone 17 Slim/Ultra model and it will feature a completely redesigned ultra-slim form factor.

iPhone 17 series launch timeline

Although the tipster didn’t give any details about the launch timeline in the post, the details of the attached image suggest that the iPhone SE (fourth generation) could be launched between April and May 2025 while the rest of the models are expected to launch as usual. According to the September schedule will be launched in 2025
