REDMI Turbo 4 is official and previews a model that we will also see here

A little ahead of its direct predecessor, a new Android smartphone from the REDMI line is now official: it is the REDMI Turbo 4, a mid-range device that we began to discover in recent weeks through some leaks. Let’s discover together the technical features, peculiarities, and price of the new smartphone.

REDMI Turbo 4 is official in China and “anticipates” POCO X7 Pro

REDMI Turbo is official in China and can anticipate what we will see in a few days with POCO X7 Pro, its probable global version. The new Android smartphone offers a 6.67-inch LTPS OLED display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220, with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, PWM Dimming, HDR10 +, Dolby Vision, brightness of up to 3200 nits, integrated fingerprint reader and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protective glass.

The heart is the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultra SoC (with Mali-G720 MC6 GPU): alongside it, there is 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage depending on the version. To keep all this at bay, the manufacturer has integrated a 5000 mm² stainless steel vapor chamber and a 3D IceLoop system. On the connectivity side, practically nothing is missing, given the presence of 5G dual SIM, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, dual-band GPS, NFC, infrared, and USB Type-C port.

The photographic compartment is composed of three sensors in total: on the back, there is a dual camera with a 50 MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor (1/1.95″, f/1.5, OIS) and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor (f/2.2), while on the front (integrated via a hole in the display) there is a 20 MP camera with an OV20B sensor (1/4″, f/2.2). There is also resistance to water and dust (via IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications ) and a stereo speaker.

One of the strong points of REDMI Turbo 4 is undoubtedly the battery: on board, we have a good 6550 mAh thanks to the use of a silicon-carbon battery; it is compatible with 90 W wired fast charging, which allows you to return to 100% in about 45 minutes, and promises at least 1600 charging cycles before significant drops.

Design-wise, REDMI Turbo 4 has a 2.5D frame, a glass back, and a plastic frame: it is offered in three colors (which we can translate as Cloud White, Light Sea Blue, and Shadow Black), all “crossed” by a vertical line (the red one on the white variant is more visible) which underlines the different texture that divides the back in two. The smartphone was launched with Android 15 and Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.

REDMI Turbo 4 prices and release date

REDMI Turbo 4 is available in Cloud White, Light Sea Blue, and Shadow Black colors in China, and in four configurations. The recommended prices in the country are as follows:

  • 12-256 GB at CN¥1999 (about $273 / €265 / INR23,500 at the current exchange rate)
  • 16-256 GB at CN¥2199 (about $301 / €291 / INR25,800)
  • 12-512 GB at CN¥2299 (about $315 / €304 / INR27,000)
  • 16-512 GB at CN¥2499 (about $342 / €331 / INR29,400)

It is unlikely that we will see it on the global market, especially with this nomenclature. Based on what we know, the smartphone could arrive elsewhere with the name of POCO X7 Pro, but we will have to wait a few more days to find out more: the presentation of the latter is scheduled for January 9, 2025, in India, with the company of its brother POCO X7.
