Xiaomi launched its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and Xiaomi 17 Pro, on Thursday (September 25th, 2025) in China. The company introduced them alongside the standard Xiaomi 17. To make the Pro series stand out, Xiaomi has equipped them with a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a unique rear M10 display, making them distinct in the premium segment. The company has also included HyperIsland features like Dynamic Island. Xiaomi has continued its partnership with Leica. Both phones have a 50-megapixel primary Light Hunter 950L sensor.

Xiaomi 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max Features, Specifications
The Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, with the company adding the HyperIsland feature, which displays important notifications with animations around the selfie camera. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max features a larger 6.9-inch 2K display, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro features a 6.3-inch display. Both handsets come with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass protection.

1. Innovative Secondary Display on Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max
The most unique feature of both Mi 17 Pro models is the M10 secondary display on the back, which reaches up to 3,500 nits of brightness. The company calls this the Magic Back Screen, where users can create AI portraits and AI pets, pin alarms and notes, and even preview selfies taken with the rear camera.

2. Performance with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Both phones are powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, built on a 3nm process. These devices offer up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.Â

3. Collaborative Camera with Leica
In the camera department, Xiaomi has continued its partnership with Leica. Both phones feature a 50-megapixel primary Light Hunter 950L sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. A 50-megapixel front camera is also provided for selfies and video calling.

4. Jumbo 7,000 mAh Battery with New Technology
The Mi 17 Pro Max is powered by a 6,300mAh battery. It’s 8mm thick and weighs 192 grams. The Mi 17 Pro, on the other hand, has a larger 7,500mAh battery that supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
5. Additional Features
For connectivity, both handsets support 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and UWB. They also have an in-display fingerprint sensor. The company also claims that the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are IP66, IP68, and IP69 certified.

Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max Price in China
In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is priced at CNY 4,999 (approximately $700) for the 12GB + 256GB storage variant. The 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB variants are priced at CNY 5,299 (approximately $745), CNY 5,599 (approximately $785), and CNY 5,999 (approximately $840), respectively.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max starts at CNY 5,999 (approximately $840) for the base 12GB + 512GB variant. The 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants are priced at CNY 6,299 (approximately $885) and CNY 6,999 (approximately $980), respectively. Both models will be available in White, Black, Cold Smoke Purple, and Forest Green color options.
